MarkMagic Version 6.1 Fixes:

**5.1 to 6.1  Upgrade: IMPORTANT MUST READ!**

Users upgrading from version 5.1 mod level 051121 or earlier, to version 6.1 will experience printing problems in version 5.1 after the 6.1 upgrade has completed.

Summary of issue:  During a 5.1 to 6.1 upgrade, some 5.1 programs are replaced in order to allow both 5.1 to 6.1 to coexist.  CYBRA has found older 5.1 mod levels (any before 060310) are not 100% compatible with these updated programs resulting in some printing issues.  Although 6.1 will print fine, CYBRA strongly encourages 5.1 users who intend to temporarily continue to use 5.1 as they test 6.1, to upgrade to mod level 060310 before upgrading to 6.1.

How to find your 5.1 mod level:   Enter MRKMAG50/SETMMPRM from a command line, Mod lvl is displayed in the upper right.  Example:  051121 = 05/11/21 (YY/MM/DD)

*CRITICAL UPDATE FOR VERSION 6.1*

*MarkMagic Cache Update for Version 6.1 Mod Level 071201*
We discovered a problem with the cache feature of MarkMagic 6.1.  If your application swaps in different MarkMagic formats during one print command call (use of the LBPARM special control field to define the format) then you could run into this problem.  If 10 or more formats are “swapped” during the print job, you will need this update. One program was updated in version 6.1 to resolve this.  The new *PGM object name, library, and creation date is listed below:

MMCACHE              MRKMAG60             12/21/07  17:03:59

If your objects are dated the same or newer, then you do not need this update. If they are older, please download the following file, unzip it and follow the instructions provided in the README.doc.

*MarkMagic Non- Critical Zebra Driver Update for 6.1 mod lvl 071201*

We discovered a minor problem with the Zebra print program in MarkMagic 6.1.  This occurs when a user prints a format *LAYOUT of a Zebra label (usually a test print with no real data), but only when their MarkMagic Zebra device type is configured for “High Memory”. The user will receive a Decimal Data error in their job log and no output from the Zebra printer.  If the Zebra device is configured for “Low Memory”, there is no problem. One program was updated in version 6.1 to resolve this.  The new *PGM object name, library, and creation date is listed below:

PDZTZPL              MRKMAG60             01/02/08  11:39:16

If your objects are dated the same or newer, then you do not need this update. If they are older, please download the following file, unzip it and follow the instructions provided in the README.doc.

IMPORTANT V5R4M0 PTF required

During a recent V5R4MO change made by IBM, the API that MarkMagic uses to retrieve the system processor group was mistakenly corrupted. IBM resolved this problem with PTF #SI27162 which was then superseded by #SI27389.  We strongly recommend all V5R4M0 users download and apply this PTF today and avoid any potential MarkMagic licensing issues that could cause your MarkMagic printing/emailing/faxing to stop. (please apply today) :

This page contains information for users who have recently upgraded to MarkMagic 6.0 and JMagic 6.0.  CYBRA has made necessary changes to programs and files that affect the way MarkMagic 6.0 and JMagic 6.0 operate.  Depending on the time and date you downloaded and installed these new releases, you may not have these updates.  Please read the descriptions carefully to determine whether or not you need to make these changes and / or updates.  Thank you.

JMagic Updates

PDF Email Option will not send email

This is due to an incorrectly named java JAR file located on the IFS. The directory is: /home/cybra/cybrajavaclasses6 and the jar file name may be incorrectly set to cybraemail_.jar The correct name should be: cybraemail.jar Simply, remove the underscore. If the file does not have the underscore, then you do not need to make this change. The jar file in question would have a date of 4/12/07. Please see the example below:

Exporting formats from MarkMagic v6.0 to MarkMagic v5.1: Update

We discovered a problem involving exporting formats from MarkMagic 6.0 to MarkMagic 5.1.  Format fields that are *LINK type will have their source fields removed upon importing into v5.1.  One program was updated in version 6.0 to resolve this.  The new *PGM object name, library, and creation date is listed below:

JMagic 6.0 installed into the wrong directory overwriting JMagic 3.0

This only applies to users that also have JMagic version 3 on their computer.  If you installed JMagic 6.0 and did not customize the install directory during the install process, it is possible that JMagic 6.0 was installed into the same directory as JMagic 3.

The easiest way to tell if this occurred is to check the version of Java is being loaded when JMagic 6.0 is started.  Java version 1.5 should loaded and if anything lower is being loaded, then you have a bad install.  JMagic 3.0 is also lost due to this. Please see the following screenshot for this example:

f you notice anything lower than version 1.5, please uninstall JMagic 6.0.  Next, download the new JMagic 3.0 and JMagic 6.0 clients using the below links and reinstall both.  You will then have JMagic 3.0 and 6.0 installed separately on your PC.

HPPCL5C Color Support Update

In the initial release of MarkMagic 6, the HPPCL5C device only printed color graphics. Now, your text fields, lines and boxes can be printed in color as well. Three programs were updated to add this new feature to MarkMagic. The new *PGM object names, library, and creation dates are listed below:

MM116 MRKMAG60 07/25/07 14:52:12
MM117 MRKMAG60 07/25/07 14:52:16
PDHPPCL5 MRKMAG60 07/26/07 13:56:18

If your objects are dated the same or newer, then you do not need this update.  If they are older, please download the following file, unzip it and follow the instructions provided in the README.doc .

*NOTE* This update also requires you to modify the MarkMagic device table. In the zip file, you will find extra instructions to accomplish this task. You will not be able to choose the colors if you do not update the device table!
