Smart Cargo Tracking TechnologiesTM Suite

Smart Cargo Tracking TechnologiesTM (SCTT) Suite is designed to serve the needs of any Electronic Cargo Tracking System (ECTS). It is a multi-tiered system developed to electronically monitor and control goods and exports under transit along the supply chain from source to destination.
SCTT involves observation of goods on the move and supplying a timely ordered sequence of respective location data. The system is based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) technology. All trucks/vehicles, tankers and containers carrying goods in transit are fitted with a tracking device and electronic seal which assesses the seal status, pinpoints the exact truck location and any tampering or violation of sealed goods on real-time basis.
Smart Cargo Tracking TechnologiesTM Suite leads to the development of a harmonized simplified process, which facilitates the movement of cargo efficiently, and maximizes revenue collection. It's a full-service solution that provides a near-immediate ROI within the first year of application.
Benefits of implementation on a national cargo system for the express purpose of monitoring and ensuring that the appropriate taxes are paid to government authorities by trucking/shipping companies.
Benefits of Smart Cargo Tracking TechnologiesTM (SCTT) Suite include but are not limited to:
- Elimination of manual processes along the supply chain;
- Knowing the location of the cargo consignments along the supply chain;
- Staying critically informed of the seal status at any given time;
- Monitoring vehicles/trucks in transit efficiently along the gazetted routes;
- Detect trends in the supply chain to make informed cost-savings decisions;
- Reusable electronic seal (approximately 1000 times) with useful life of about 3 - 5 years;
- Encrypted communication for the tracking devices in use;
- Elimination of the need for physical escorts and movement of trucks in convoy;
- Improve truck turnaround times and accountability to the transporters through higher profit margins, lower maintenance costs and lower fuel consumption due to a reduction in any side trips;
- Simplification of transit trucks licensing process;
- Improved cargo visibility and status to all stakeholders;
- Quick security bond cancellation;
- Lower insurance premiums by the bond guarantors;
- Provide detailed information about complaints from customers and stakeholders; and
- Maximize revenue collection due to anti-diversion of transit goods, quick movement of goods along the supply chain, elimination of non-tariff barriers to trade and traffic, and reduction of corruption cases and promotion of integrity.
Primary Objectives of Implementation

Smart Cargo Tracking TechnologiesTM Suite
The primary objective in the case of a nationally implemented cargo monitoring system would be to track inter- and intra-country dumping of product within a specific country to reduce the loss of vital tax revenue. Often these goods mainly fall into the category of fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and originate in low-cost manufacturing centres such as China and Thailand arriving, as in the case of East Africa for example, via the ocean ports of Kenya and Tanzania.
Two significant groups which often violate national laws and incur sizeable tax losses for national governmental collection agencies include:
(1) International logistic companies, those maintaining trucking fleets and other carriers which transit goods through the country under review, and
(2) Domestic logistic companies and trucking personnel who transport goods to the local populous yet fail to report and pay their associated tax duties at the associated municipal office within the said country.
It is important to note that Smart Cargo Tracking TechnologiesTM can prevent international truck drivers from deviating into localities within the country employing the new tracking system, sell product to locals, and not paying full and complete taxes to the respective national authorities.
At the same time, while domestic trucking companies do not have to pay customs tax at port of entry - taxes are supposed to be paid at local city tax municipalities within the country itself. However, local trucking companies may deviate from making payment where taxes are due in order to dump product and reduce tax burden.
Currently, in many countries the penalties for this type of tax evasion can range from two years in jail, or full repayment of tax plus a fine. Such laws however are now undergoing a stringent review to increase the penalties for tax evasion.

Major Benefits of Deployment

Smart Cargo Tracking TechnologiesTM Suite
CYBRA's Smart Cargo Tracking TechnologiesTM and GlobeTracker International has recently been identified as the choice of the government of the People's Republic of China. CYBRA has recently entered into a Joint Venture - entitled Beijing Smart Shipping Technologies Limited-- with China's Ministry of Transportation and its Waterbone Transport Institute to create the industry standard in smart container management and tracking.
Among the additional benefits of utilizing Smart Shipping TechnologiesTM Suite for effective ECTS can include but are not limited to the following:
• Total Tracking - Containers can be tracked to within three meters anywhere in one's country or defined scope of geographic area. If a container deviates from a route, an alert will be immediately sent with coordinates to allow for immediate interdiction.
• Tamper Evidence - If a container is opened either en route or off route, an alert will be immediately sent with coordinates to allow for immediate interdiction.
• Reduced time to find specific containers
• Reduced labour cost for finding specific containers
• Location Accuracy - Client will know exactly where any container is at any time.
• Improved Customer Service - by improving ability to respond to both external and internal customer requests for specific containers.
• High flexibility in Data Analysis and Reporting - as a multi-user system accessible by authorized users even outside of the office.
• Ease of support - Components can easily be updated by CYBRA and GlobeTracker personnel for changing requirements.
• Ease of expansion - Additional tracking hardware can be easily added for more reading stations.
